2017 Summer League

ORLANDO, Fla. — “Plummet for Porter.’’

That could turn into the unofficial motto for the 2017-18 Knicks sooner than later. If you haven’t heard of him yet, that’s Missouri 6-foot-10 freshman combo forward Michael Porter Jr., expected to be the top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

“He’s a game-changer,’’ one NBA executive told The Post. “This year was a good draft, not sure yet there was a game-changer.’’

Among seven way-too-early 2018 NBA Drafts, Missouri’s prize incoming freshman forward is projected to go No. 1 overall or is listed as the top available player on six lists.

The lone exception, SB Nation, lists Real Madrid forward Luka Doncic as the top prospect for next June’s draft with Porter second on the list.

Yeah in the Nitty thread I mentioned a couple days after the draft that...

The Michael Porter and Luca Doncic Era Has Begun

We probably won't be in position to get either, we'll do just enough to place us right outside but of course we'll go with Doncic if we have a chance because...

We have a scout living with him as we speak, he's a euro, he's good friends with Nitty and #kporzee, he plays professionally, he plays for the world renown Real Madrid blah blah...blah blah blah...blah blah

Knew nothing about these kids until you posted this but they compare this kid Doncic to Lebron and Porter to KD. That kid Porter looks special but that kid Doncic is no Lebron. That NBA exec saying Porter is better than anyone in this years draft... definitely going to watch him this season.

We might have a chance for that number 1 with Mills seeming ready to go with the tank strategy in not signing FA's. I'd trade CLee, Quinn and Kuz for picks and shorter contracts and only bring in a vet like Mo Williams on vet min deals to tutor Frank this off season. Maybe going full tank convinces Melo to waive that NTC also and we can really start this rebuilding if we can trade him.

this is fun stuff to think about and look for next year, but it's way too early. i'm old enough to remember the hype around okafor, only to watch his stock drop a bit later in the season in favor of KAT. and compare the two of those guys now.

If NYK renounce Rose and get rid of Melo, and that available cap space is being earmarked for D-Waiters, Jonathan Simmons, Alan Williams, and Shelvin Mack.... then I'm cool with these sort of unheralded moves.

Well our Knicks SL team are 0-4 .. reminding me of our regular season team losing streak.
If the Knicks renounce Rose plus get rid of Melo .. i would only trade Melo for a bunch of LOSERS with 1 yr contracts.

Danny Ainge traded for Allan Houston/Paul Pierce type player in Tatum...he's going to play minutes this yr. He's so good

Caught from the middle of the 3 qtr. Fultz sparked a big comeback but the Sixers came up short. Mitchell has some motor, Fultz plays effortlessly, I hope Frank shows near the ability of those 2. Exum looked good.

Yeah it's easy for Fultz...Mitchell came up big late when they needed him. Exum has definitely found himself after major injuries. I liked him entering the draft 3yrs ago.

So, a year after letting Sullinger go, BOS cuts ties with Zeller and Olynk and now wants to get rid of Smart and Bradley..... that's a whole lot of first rounders Ainge missed on.
Then this happened:

Jaylen Brown struggled during Wednesday's Summer League defeat, going 2-of-6 from the field for six points in 26 minutes.
Boston's second-year forward chipped in eight rebounds, two assists and one steal, while turning the ball over four times. He missed all four of his 3-point attempts and was overshadowed by rookie Jayson Tatum (23 points, 10 rebounds), as well as Abdel Nader (14 points in 19 minutes). Brown proved last season that he's a rotation-worthy talent, and he thrived during Monday's Summer League game, so there's not much to take away from tonight's quiet performance.

Our 1st rounder signed today.... its official, he won't play in SL.

Don't fret tho.... bc there's also this:

"The 18-year-old was the MVP of the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship in 2016 and is a two-time French League Best Young Player winner."

Finally won one against the Heat 91-72. Didn't see Frank the entire SL but Dotson shows promise, can hit the 3 going 4-7 today and was the leading rebounder with 9 today. Knicks better get a PG because you can't go into the season with Baker, Randle, Frank as the guys that are going to run the team. Frank may be the best PG on the roster right now and who knows if he's even ready.

Knicks second-round pick Damyean Dotson dropped 20 points in Thursday's Summer League win over the Heat.
He was the best player on the floor Thursday morning, hitting 8-of-11 shots with nine rebounds, four assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 25 minutes. The rookie is in a great spot with the Knicks rebuilding, and with Courtney Lee's name popping up in trade rumors, Dotson is a player to keep an eye this offseason.

Dotson showed today why we let Holiday walk.

He was the only prospect I'm most interested in. He has shot the ball well overall and contributed in other ways. Didn't get to watch him as much I'd like because of the early gigs. Maybe catch the replay on this one.

If true then Dotson better play right away

Are you guys watching Mitchell?

Fultz athleticism n creative skills at the point will lead the charge for ROY having Reddick/Simmons/Okafor/ and Embiid in the lineup.

Exum and Mitchell show elite talent as a backcourt tandem in the SL games .. poor Rubio aint gonna receive any playing-time in Utah if those two guards keep up their scheme of creative B.ball. Utah still should have kept George Hill.

Not at $20mil/yr...besides they have Neto and Diaw/Johnson who can handle the ball and run offense when needed
