Game Thread: New York Knicks @ Boston Celtics 7:30 10/24/2017 [Game #3]

We had 3 buckets outside of the paint TOTAL after three quarters. Not gonna win many ballgames doing that.

KP and THJr were a combined 2-22 with about 7 left to play in the game.

Kanter was the lone bright spot... he showed why he was the third pick in the draft.... He's only 25.

WHG proves he can score again.

BOS wasn't going to let us beat them tonight.... and we couldn't make a shot....

KP with 2 great games and now 1 absolute dud.

TGjr hasn't hit much of anything in first 3 games.

Even when I know they're gonna lose, and I'm not gonna be upset with a loss b/c I want a top pick.... still hard to stomach watching this.

I hope the Nets are good b/c Kyrie, Tatum, Brown, Gordon Heyward are pretty good. Another top pick and Brad Stevens? Yikes.

Its funny now KO.com is finally learning something about basketball. Everyone here cried about how ?Melo sucked?. Everything from offense to defense sucked because of Melo. Now y?all are finding out this franchise from top to bottom sucks and Melo was simply a scapegoat. Melo was the only legit NBA baller on this team who made the opposition game plan for him. With Melo gone, now KP is going to see those double teams, yet KP?s offensive game has not matured; KP has size but not the skills. He ain?t taking cats off the dribble like the Greekfreak so if you crowd him on the outside KP is finished. Kanter has been a pleasant surprise, but in today?s NBA defenses will give you 2?s instead of 3?s all day. That?s a recipe to LOSE by 20 every night. We should have known THjr couldnt shoot hell we drafted him. CLEE has been shooting bricks since he?s been a Knick. But it all goes back to no Melo. Just like in baseball, you need a bopper in the middle of the lineup to scare the other team and so the rest of your guys get pitches. With no Melo, who are you afraid to leave open in this lineup???? So now your opposing defenses are in your grill because Melo was the only guy on the roster that could get his own shot. No fear defense. You guys bought the ISO-Melo, ball-stopping, bs hype. The truth was Melo stayed classy and gave max effort to a classless organization.First step to fixing this mess is firing Horn today. He is too nice and these Knicks ain?t playing for him. We need a brotha that ain?t going for lack of effort. That?s either Mark Jackson or bring Woody back. In the meantime you fellas enjoy the show you begged for and now deserve.

we are off to a great start at getting a high lottery pick. as the season progresses we will more than likely see more playing time for the younger dudes, giving them plenty of time to develop. i have absolutely no doubts about that. by mid-december we'll be seeing a much younger rotation out there. hopefully the younger dudes will be able to stay healthy for that. and hopefully we'll be so deep in a hole that it would take miraculous heroics to get us out of that top 5 spot in the draft.
i am encouraged by the fact that perry did not at all seem interested in trading willy. unless that was just a bunch of BS on account of him not being at all interested in bledsoe, it tells me that they might in fact be considering him as part of their future. and if that is the case, perry and horn may very well be committed to a kind of tanking strategy this year. i'm okay with that. that's why i'm not getting very upset about these losses. that's also why i won't get upset with KP when he has these awful games from time to time.
but i swear to god, if timmy decides to start lighting it up at the end of the season and wins us too many games for that high lottery pick... AGAIN... i will jump out the window.
i swear to god, if timmy starts lighting it up and KP is playing well, horn better sit KP for the rest of the season and make up some kind of injury BS excuse for it.

I thought I detected some bad chemistry between Hardaway and KP. I mean I wonder if Hardaway resents not being the main guy on this team. And KP did nothing to rally is teammates. Obviously not much to say from watching on TV but I saw no encouragement from KP to Hardaway. And the team's collective will was crushed early on with a leadership void. That is worrisome.

Dude, we were terrible 5 out of 6 full seasons with Melo too. It was time to move on. Having Melo still here this season would accomplish nothing.

This team is so fragile that a trade rumor shakes them up-- I think that's a reasonable conclusion. I also think the announcers are right. Both Lee and Hardaway are just too small to guard small forwards. And if Lee and Hardaway are griping that is a bad sign.

Embiid is damn good also. He's got the size and muscle to man up against guys like Drummond. KP still too soft despite a summer of intense training, I guess those pics that we saw on twitter and instagram were Photoshopped because he still looks like the skinny kid from last year. He still has a hard time getting to the rim when he doesn't have a clear lane to the basket and when guys crowd him. Can't expect that he's going to score 30 every game, but we need more PnR action to get him points closer to the bucket, have we seen one alley oop play to him this season even in those 30 pt games?

Chief - Much respect that you're a Knicks fan and posting on KOL but you have a team to and maybe the best the player in the game the Greek Freak to root for. I did like the modesty when they asked Giannis about being the best compared to Lebron and he said he's got a long way to go before he could be compared to the King but to tell you the truth he might be there already. Dude is a monster on both sides of the ball.

Because being DA MAN isn't about platitudes and soliloquies...#kporzee was a follower last yr of the highest order, why did we think this would change this yr? All he and THJR want to do is chuck the rock and hard to check a teammate when you're stinking up the joint yourself. Sometimes it isn't about chirping but instead leading by example. Such as if your shot isn't falling how about get into the game another way but this is what happens when you're sleeping with the enemy which #kporzee did for 2yrs here with Melo.

He has a strong case of Meloitis over 3gms 60FGA to 3AST but according to Knick fans he's arrived as a new Man...NO HE HAS NOT! Given the same usage rate he's not better than Kanter nor WHG definitively. He might be a better TALENT but not a better PLAYER. There's a difference.

Tim Hardaway Jr. was very critical of New York's offense after their third straight loss against Boston on Tuesday.

"We’re all out there just running like we don’t know what’s going on,’’ Hardaway said. "It can’t happen. It’s frustrating at the same time, but it’s still early in the season. We’ve just got to go to the drawing boards and get back to practice, just go out there knowing what we have to do offensively and defensively." Courtney Lee made similar comments and said some of the players don't even know all the plays. As for THJ, he's shooting just 9-of-37 from the field, but he's playing through a tweaked ankle and should heat up sooner rather than later. "I’m not making no excuses,’’ Hardaway said. "If I’m out there, that means I’m 100 percent."

MEANWHILE.... C-Lee was talking about how "some" didn't know the offense... should pay more attention in practice... they were out of position all night and that was hurting KP, b/c the spacing was messed up. OBVIOUSLY, C-Lee wasn't referring to KP... and I doubt he was talking about Sessions or Kanter... So we officially have a rift between our starting SG & SF.

Melo may have been a good teammate but absolutely and unequivocally not someone you attach yourself to on how to be a professional in terms of playing the game, being a team leader, media interaction. He picked up some very bad habits and they show and have shown over the past 2yrs. Stuff like this will eventually bleed. Melo proved over and over and every chance he could get he was all about Melo when it came to him and the organization he played for, yet #kporzee was the best of buds with him. This will never jive with me. NEVER!

We can blame Dolan until the "Cows Come Home".... but let's be honest the people we've brought into this organization with exception to Phil(who probably only came here for the money) and to a lesser degree D'Antoni/Walsh had suspect resumes or very undefined ones. Thus these individuals need to accept more of the blame/accountability on results. It's not like they've been without opportunity and backing!

I know and Milwaukee is only 45 minutes from my crib. Problem is I have no emotions or feelings for the Bucks. I had my Knicks stuff on Saturday night for the home opener and will undoubtedly hook it up again Xmas morning. Then the game will start and we will see how much bad basketball I can handle. At least when Melo was on the floor there was one NBA level player to watch. Now what???? I?m sorry but CLEE and THjr just aint doing it. And now KP6 is going to get the Melo treatment so it will be harder for him to develop against constant double teams. Our Knicks are stuck in the worst of all basketball purgatories now. I think Adam Silver is seriously going to have to step in on Dolan who only cares about the almighty $$$$. It?s bad for the NBA for the Knicks to be this bad for an extended period of time.

yeah it sucks that he hasn't had any good minutes out there yet. can we give him at least 5-10 games of meaningful minutes to see what we've got? maybe he turns out to be good, maybe he turns out to be a bust. he's missed 2 complete games out of the first 3.

this isn't about melo anymore. he's gone. it's about seeing what we've got and how it plays into the hopefully near future.
timmy's got to step up and start earning that money, and if he isn't paying attention during practices, he'd better start paying attention.
