Game thread: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers 2/5/2022 8:30pm [Game #53]

After the final buzzer, James shook Barrett?s hand and said some words.

?When he started the game off ? I think he had 17 in the first quarter if I?m not mistaken,? James said. ?He hit big-time shots down the stretch. Obviously, the 3 to tie it at 11; the full-court dunk in transition. He just hit key shot after key shot tonight.?

Barrett said after the game he requested the matchup with James from the Knicks assistant coach who had the Lakers as their scouting game.

?Yeah, I did. I was texting everybody trying to figure out (the assistant) who had the scout so I could tell him I wanted to guard him,? said Barrett, who was 4 of 10 from 3-point range.

?I?ve been knowing RJ for quite a while now,? James said late Saturday night. ?I was in Toronto during the summertime, I think he was a high school junior, and there was a call to my agent, Rich [Paul] that there was a kid in Toronto that was possibly next [one].

?And it was offseason. I was in Toronto, just having a good time in Toronto. But I was going to the gym to get some work in and they called Rich and asked, ?Can he join?? And I was like, absolutely.

?So, I?ve been knowing him quite a while. I followed him throughout those last few years of high school and obviously off to Duke and now as a Knick.?

Randle has 30 points, 15 boards, and 7 assists.

RJ has 36 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists.

I think I?m done listening to people target these 2 guys as a negative on this team. This team has a lot of problems. These 2 guys aren?t why we lost tonight.

Should have have never listened in the first place. Eating our own in typical Knicks fashion.

29 for Malik Monk

34 from Kemba, Evan, IQ, & AB.

That?s the game. Simple as that.

RJ/Randle/Mitch outplayed Davis/LJ/RW, but unfortunately our guards and our bench didn?t show up.

This. Kemba/Fournier were downright awful. I didn?t see IQ much and Obi didn?t get much run either. Fournier cooked us with bad shot selection and that awful ?shaqtin a fool? tip that Bron turned into a dunk.

Did the Knicks ever(repeat Ever) have a chance to win this game??
Did they have a chance in regulation??
Did they have a chance in overtime??
No to #1
No to #2
Hell No to #3

At no point and time in this game could the Knicks have won this game. As good as some of you think they played they Never repeat Never could won the game.
There no consolation prize in no area. There nothing to cheer about not offensive or defensive. Not individual offense or defense.

The Knicks scored 42 pts in the first quarter, in the 2nd half of the game including overtime the Knicks scored 44 pts. Also in the 2nd half of the game Anthony Davis scored at will over Randle & Noel. It was AD dunk that took the lead having 5 min left in the 3rd qtr. The Knicks lost their 15 pt lead at halftime by having 7 min of POOR defense from the Knicks starters, and from Randle & Barrett taking all the shots on offense.
I'm not a Fournier fan, but I know Fournier (Steve Kerr or Allan Houston) are not a ISO player which Fournier have to be (ISO) to score points in the (Thibs & Randle) Knicks offense. The Knicks media has been favoring Randle & RJ Barrett way to much after a Knicks loss, plus rarely mentioning other Knicks teammates on a Knicks win.
In the 4th qtr. when Barrett 3 tied the game, a few seconds before it was Fournier hitting a 3, then grabbing a defensive rebound to assist RJ in the 3 that tied the game at 111. And in overtime having a tied score at 111, it was Fournier defensive rebound and pass to RJ to set up the offense, but RJ was in a rush and goes and dribble straight into a double team in the paint to come-up with a jump-ball against a 6.4 Tucker. I too, thought 6.7 RJ won the tip over 6.4 Tucker. Lebron dunk only made the score 113-111.
