Game Thread: New York Knicks vs Denver Nugets 1:00pm 2/7/2016

Knicks let Nuggets switch Porzingis onto Mudiay. Mudiay with the acrobatic reverse layup to make the lead 7.

Mudiay having a nice 4th qtr. I think he has 9 pts so far. Nice reverse layup on that last one, they give him the green light to take the 3 and he doesn't do it well yet but I guess Denver is letting him learn under fire.

Mudiay making Broadway's argument in favor of him from a couple nights ago look real good. Mudiay is 6 for 17 from the floor and 1 for 4 from the free throw line, but he has made plays in the 4th quarter while our guys have laid a big fat egg.

Melo makes what may be our best pass of the season to find Porzingis underneath the hoop to cut the lead to 3. We have the ball with a chance to tie less than 10 seconds to go. Melo gets a decent look, but misses the 3.

Everyone will focus on that Melo miss with a chance to tie as we are on the verge of losing our 9th out of 10, but bottom line, the entire team shot like garbage for the entire 4th quarter and that's why we are about to lose.

Barton the star of this game for Denver off the bench. He finishes with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists on 7 for 12 shooting from the floor. Absolutely killed us.

0-6 from 3 in the 4th was the story of the loss for the Knicks. It wasn't a blowout but a loss to this WC .300 team was disappointing, the Knicks just aren't that good.

Yep and that's the only way a player can learn and get better. What I like is that he had 0 turnovers and as I've been saying he's clearly a POINT GUARD no debating.

Poor Jerian has to deal with Fisher as coach and Phil's triangle

Yeah when their record was 0-0 this was the case then too. Look at the lamdscape of the league rosters 1-12 and fans will be able to better assess their team's outlook a little more objectively. i said we'd struggle to win about 30gms. On pace to win about 32-34 which would have never been good for the playoffs anyway.

True, although he got way off track to start long stretches in the 2nd half and simply hasn't been a CLUTCH player. How many times have we seen him miss from that side of the court?

He was a small piece to the overall case I was making about our need for a POINT GUARD and Phil's lack of importance for getting one that not only works in this system but has a game for which can adapt/tailored for the modern style of play.

PGs are the QB of NBA. This is why they are absolutely necessary and why Forwards and Centers flounder without one... How many great F/C won without a PG?

KP and Mudiay are both special... Both have flaws... The mistake last draft was Grant (or Fisher for not playing JG)...

Knicks in full tank mode... A shame... A swoon will certainly scare away any potential free agents...

This was a terrible loss... Another bad start and another terrible 4th... This is the game Melo needs to take over down the stretch... We didn't lose bc Mudiay made plays (he was 6-18)... We lost bc Melo failed to make his imprint. We can only pray Melo asks PJ to trade him.

Couldn't agree more... We need a PG desperately. Oh well.

mudiay makes you wish the knicks drafted him because the knicks needed a PG..

carmelo makes the trade looks bad because he is not an elite player and he makes elite money, meanwhile guys like gallo in Denver can play him to a standstill.... on top of that the picks the knicks have lost.. wow.. just think if the knicks could load their team with young talent like Gary Harris and Jokic...

The knicks have been doing things wrong before carmelo got here but since he has gotten here it has gotten even worse with the decision making

but back to your point.. Mudiay is going to be a Fine PG, size, passing, driving ability...

True but gotta give denver whole starting 5 the nod as well they came out set the tone and grabbed the big lead. I follow the nuggets have been a fan since the carmelo trade...( funny how that cat put a bad taste in my mouth and I have been a knick fan since 1979)

anyway, barton does this a lot, and when gallo was hurt and he was starting. dude went in beast mode, I watch all of their games, barton at one point was leading the NBA in 4th qtr scoring..

Lavergne had a great game, but usually Jokic gets most of the minutes and that kid is just 20 and he is going to be a hell of a big man...

I think both of us were saying that in the pre-season, myself 35 win max but more likely under 30 based on historic data on how much 17 win teams improve the season after and supported by the ESPN computer models predicting 28 wins. I just wasn't impressed with the guys PJ recruited.

Miss the playoffs again, fall into the lottery with no player there for us to improve for next year. Things look dismal for recruiting during the off-season, you can forget the likes of KD, Mike Conley etc. This losing cycle feeds on itself when you don't have the possibility of improving through the draft like this year w/o a lottery pick

It is more sad than last year..... last year there were no team. But this year we have a very good pieces. .... but of course we have calderon and fisher....
In one quarter they showed how we must play for the whole season but then fisher destroyed the chimestry with his subs...
