Not sure what you're getting at... But the stats say otherwise... In terms of his rebounds-blocks-points scored-3-pointers... combined for his first 2 seasons... Never been done...
Porzingis is the ONLY player in NBA history with at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebs, 250 blocks and 100 made 3's over his first two seasons.
1,000 rebounds, 150 made threes, 100 blocks through 2 seasons --
- LeBron James
- Kristaps Porzingis
"
Kristaps Porzingis sought to grab his third straight 30-point game (to solidify himself after Shaq as the second youngest player ever to start a season with three straight 30 point games)."
NO NYK EVER has scored more points through the season's first 9 games than KP (272 total).
I mean, I'm not jumping up and down shouting from the rafters b/c KP is coordinated for his size, or can dribble for a big... I'm applauding the fact that KP is doing the things he's doing, which hasn't been seen often EVER in the NBA.
This doesn't amount to a hill of beans, of course, but let's be honest... The kid keeps silencing his doubters.
He wouldn't produce his rookie year, we were told. Well...
He wouldn't be able to handle being the man sans Melo... Well...
Come on, yourself dude. Appreciate what you're watching. It's OK. This doesn't mean he's the next Dirk or Duncan or MJ... It's just that he looks like he is legit. And, for those who began the "he can't close" game... Well, he did last night.
And, as for will/heart/desire to be great? Ever hear of Ed Curry? Tons of guys have talent... the special ones have the drive to be great. Uber-competitive.
AND Tyson Chandler said KP has chance to be the best offensive player in the NBA. I think TC knows a thing or two. IS he saying that bc he's a NYK fan?
If you love MIL so much... go root for them. I get it... they have a nice foundation. We shall see what happens moving fwd. I agree that the Greek Freak will probably be the MVP-heir to Lebron in the EC. I hope he and KP have many MJ-Ewing-esque battles.
But... both teams will be chasing BOS for a while anyway.
But to act like KP is just another decent prospect is disingenuous.... no?
Sure... if I were a PHI fan I would be stoked about my team as well.
Be objective? huh? Be tempered to avoid being let down? After 4 decades of losing... I think I can handle if KP flops and fizzles.
KP is a dynamic force who alters games with his shot blocking and scoring. He's 7"3 and getting a strong foundation, making him a tough guy to handle. What's not to like? He's also handling the NY pressure and dealing with the intense media scrutiny admirably. He dealt with that dysfunctional mess last year and came out an improved player.
Why can't we get excited about him? We did with Ewing and King and that never brought a title.
