Knicks get Cam Redish

If you can stomach it? take a look at this list. Ranking the NYK PGs last 22 years?

https://www.passionweiss.com/2018/09/25/a-definitive-ranking-of-22-years-of-new-york-knicks-point-guards/

Aside from aging vets in Rose, Kidd, Billups? NYK haven?t had a staring PG, in essence, since the mid 1990s. All the rest were basically the 35th-44th type rates Pg in NBA?

Condemned to
This cruel
Torture
Since trading ROY PGs in M-Jax and Rod S.

Had an injured Cheeks and Harper, then it was pretty much Charlie Ward time. The best QB in NY at the time.

Look at it this way whether we like it or not.
Knox was useless as a Knicks. Whether thats how the guy practices or This just not seeing anything he can off. Truth is its irrelevant. If the guy does not play he's worthless to us.
Taking Cam and the big thing here is IF this plays him we will see what we got.
Not like any team was knocking on the knicks door for Knox.
does the needle for the Knicks move today in any direction the answer is NO. Can it in the future there is a possibility.

As for RJ maybe you have seen the last two games maybe not. Give the kid a chance. He is 21 and I know you say so what but thats nonsense.
Give the knicks a REAL PG and who knows the upside on RJ.

WE ALL AGREE WE NEED A PG.

Ok, Now look at it this way whether we like it or not.

RJ is useless if given the same set of conditions that Knox was given. BTW, RJ is useless... Just prove he beat out 7 vet's and I'm on board. But you and NOBODY can because he didn't... Now if you know BB not to mention Real BB (Especially if you played the game) then you should have a real BIG problem with RJ on the Knicks. If not... WELL!!
Thib's doesn't see a lot of things... Example - who is playing defense!! Who is running and grabbing their player from behind and constantly losing his man? One other thing... How about not being able to recognize when a player has the hot hand or more importantly that your starting 5 shouldn't be playing in the fourth quarter. Do I need to go on.... I Can!!

Taking Cam and the Big thing If become he doesn't play him.... Is he USELESS or is he in the same boat as Knox was in and would you say so?

Glad you recognize no team was knocking on the knicks door for Knox.... Well 3 years ago that same thing happen for the #3 pick!! And you still can't give him away. Do you want to stop??

Correct about the Needle... Has it been moving the last 3 years? Before you answer let's be clear... The Needle moving isn't just for a one time playoff appearance but to win a championship or some Hope(real Hope not Hype). Just want to remind you of what the season is played for.... some seem to forget that important point.

Please stop begging for this sorry excuse for a #3 pick. As you say, I didn't draft RJ!! I have given him more than what he deserve and he deserve NOTHING. I don't give a damn if he is an infant. Nonsense?? Have you open your eyes?? What is this kid haven't been given? Beating out 7 vet's but just can make the ROY voting. Can't win a spot on any of the 3 ROY All-rookie team. Open your eyes, Ok. Stop making excuse and call a pig ear a pig ear and not a silk shirt. You stand for mistreating Knox and Frank and say Nothing about what treatment they give RJ. My friend that isn't fair and if you say it is then you certainly never played this game. Just be fair!!

We need a PG?? I said supposedly and that was 3 years ago. And if you should know it wasn't a PG we need but a PF. The Knicks had a PG that fit this team perfectly.
** Give the Knicks a New F.O. and H.C. and trade(if you can)RJ and see if our Future looks brighter.
When was the last time you had hope of a championship?? No Hype a real hope... Just be honest with yourself because you certainly can't possibly see one now.

Thanks.....

Hard to understand how NYK scouted Kentucky and somehow thought Knox was better than his teammate?.if only they drafted the right Wildcat.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powered the Thunder to a 130-109 win over the Nets on Thursday with 33 points (11-of-18 FG, 9-of-10 FT), 10 rebounds, nine dimes, two triples, one steal, two swats and five turnovers in 35 minutes.

Thibs + Randle + RJ really misses Bullocks hustle performance, right or wrong?
The Knicks FO can't pull a Ben Simmons trade ..
So the best they could do was get Cam Reddish, and hope/pray Cam could for-fill Bullocks meshing role-performance alongside RJ & Randle .. Good Luck lol

Article from The Athletic about the trade. Saw in another The Athletic article that Redish made it known that he wanted out of ATL. He wants the big extension that ATL wasn?t going to give him, Knicks won?t give it to him either unless he somehow gets enough playing time with the Knicks and demonstrates the consistency on both sides of the ball he didn?t show in ATL.

The Hawks and Knicks, budding rivals in the Eastern Conference, have agreed to the first big trade ahead of the Feb. 10 deadline.
Atlanta is sending first-round pick Cam Reddish to New York for a 2022 top-18 protected pick via Charlotte and first-round pick Kevin Knox. The Hawks also are including Solomon Hill, who is out for the season with a torn hamstring and who will go to the Knicks along with the Nets? 2025 second-round pick.
The Athletic?s Hawks writer Chris Kirschner and Knicks writer Fred Katz discuss what this trade means for both franchises:
[h=3]Was this a fair price for Reddish?[/h]The Hawks have made Reddish widely available since before this past draft cycle. The price then was a first-round pick, and it never changed.
Atlanta was looking for something closer to the slot where it drafted him, No. 10 overall, but nothing materialized. The front office had conversations with the Pacers, Lakers, Cavaliers and Pistons over the past several months, sources say, but the Hawks were always waiting for that first-round pick for Reddish.
Recently, The Athletic learned that the Lakers had offered two second-rounders for Reddish. Still, the Hawks believed a team would eventually offer the first-round pick they sought. They asked for Knicks rookie Quentin Grimes, the No. 25 selection during this past summer?s draft, during negotiations, but the Knicks turned them down, sources said.
As far as if the price is fair, we?re talking about a top-18 protected pick for someone who has only tantalized with his talent over his first two and a half pro seasons. Reddish, 22, flashes nodes of stardom because of how smooth he looks, then goes through stretches where he?s unplayable.
He owned, by far, the worst plus-minus of any player in the Hawks? rotation this season. His defense declined, and some wondered if he fully bought into his role in Atlanta, where he came off the bench and was mostly a spot-up shooter. There was a sentiment from some inside the Hawks last season that replacing former head coach Lloyd Pierce, along with Reddish?s unavailability due to an Achilles injury, were keys to the team?s turnaround, which ended in an Eastern Conference finals berth.
If Reddish ends up turning into the player he has shown he can be, it?s ultimately not much of a return for the Hawks. If he continues to be inconsistent on both ends of the floor, getting a first-round pick is a worthwhile return for Atlanta general manager Travis Schlenk.
It all depends on Reddish?s growth.
[h=3]Will a change of scenery help Reddish?[/h]This is what Reddish has been awaiting. It was an open secret in Atlanta that he wanted to go elsewhere, according to sources, because there wasn?t a path for him to become the player he thinks he can be ? which meant the road to a lucrative contract extension, for which he is eligible after this season, wasn?t going to be there. Reddish?s availability also didn?t help his chances to earn a more prominent role. He has played in just 66 percent of available games during his career.
The Hawks? roster, particularly on the wing, is deep with other young players who have been more steady. Atlanta holds De?Andre Hunter, who was drafted fourth in the same draft as Reddish, in higher regard. Kevin Huerter just signed a four-year, $65 million extension this past offseason, and the team signed Bogdan Bogdanovic to a four-year, $72 million contract prior to last season. Each of those players was going to be given more leeway to play over Reddish.
The Hawks do not have plans to move Knox right now, according to sources.
Before the start of the season, Reddish told The Athletic he was looking to rediscover his ?old self,? a reference to how he played in high school, when he developed into one of the nation?s top players while acting as more of a playmaker and creator. His role changed at Duke alongside Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, who is now his teammate once again in New York. Atlanta has mostly used Reddish as a spot-up shooter, a role he and those around him did not think highly of because of his skill set.
If the Knicks can help Reddish improve his on-ball skills (he has more turnovers than assists in his career), he could turn into a much better player than what he showed in Atlanta.
Of course, Reddish joins a team with similar depth to the Hawks. He isn?t guaranteed dribble after dribble in New York, either.
[h=3]How does Reddish fit into the Knicks?[/h]Chances are, Reddish slides in somewhere onto the bench ? though working through the team?s rotation right now is a puzzle.
The Knicks acquired Reddish without freeing up playing time, which means the team will be crowded once everyone is healthy. So whose minutes does Reddish take? He was averaging 23.4 minutes per game so far this season in Atlanta to go with 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 40/38/90 shooting.
The Knicks need offensive help. They are 23rd in points per possession. But when everyone is healthy, they have a lot of guys who like to create.
Once Derrick Rose and Kemba Walker are back (and Walker could return from his left knee injury soon), they man the point. Barrett is beginning to show why he went third in the same draft as Reddish. He?s averaging 24.6 points per game over his last seven games.
Alec Burks has filled in at point guard and creates off the dribble. So does second-year spark plug Immanuel Quickley. Evan Fournier just signed an expensive, four-year contract this past summer and has been locked in as a starter. Obi Toppin is barely a year removed from the Knicks selecting him with the No. 8 pick, and he has the second-best on-off numbers on the team behind Quickley. Julius Randle, meanwhile, is the league?s reigning Most Improved Player and the squad?s leading creator.
That?s eight players ? 10 once you add the two centers, Mitchell Robinson and Nerlens Noel. Taj Gibson is on the outside. So is Grimes, who is knocking down 3s and playing physical defense during his first NBA season. No question, with the addition of Reddish, at least one of those 10 will join Gibson and Grimes on the bench.
Reddish will play. You don?t trade a first-round pick for him not to. The question then becomes, do the Knicks view Reddish?s ideal role as the one he filled in Atlanta ? spot-up shooting and guarding different-sized wings? Or do they believe he can play more like his high-school self?
If the latter is the case, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau hasn?t been shy about bold rotational decisions before. He could remove one of the other playmakers to make room for Reddish. He did, after all, just sit Walker for nine consecutive games before injuries and a COVID breakout thrust the four-time All-Star back onto the floor. Otherwise, they could slot Reddish into a more expanded version of the role Grimes has filled, hoping he can pester opposing wings and knock down 3s.
The Knicks need more athleticism on the perimeter, something Reddish provides. Thibodeau is entranced with size, and Reddish is 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan. In his best moments, he can engulf an opposing wing. His jump shot, and thus his efficiency, has climbed this season after bogging down during his first two years in Atlanta. He?s shooting 38 percent from deep.
Reddish also could help the long-term depth of the group. New York employs players with significant injury histories ? including Walker, Rose and Burks. Adding another contributor gives the Knicks more competence down the line.
It?s possible another trade could come, too.
If there?s one thing we can say about this new Knicks front office, which president Leon Rose took over a couple of years ago, it?s that they like to get their work done early. They traded for Rose well before the deadline last season. Now, they?ve executed the Reddish deal a month prior to it. It gives them plenty of time to make complementary moves if they find something they like.
[h=3]What is Reddish?s future with the Knicks?[/h]The Knicks wouldn?t have traded for Reddish without an idea of where he might fit or without a thought on how they value him. He is extension-eligible after this season and can become a restricted free agent in 2023. Most of the time, teams that acquire guys under these circumstances wait until the contract expires to negotiate a new one.
Think of this trade as the inverse of the Tim Hardaway Jr. deal from 2017, when the Knicks dealt a second-year wing with scoring-burst ability who was set to become a restricted free agent in two years to the Hawks for the No. 19 pick in the draft. Atlanta let Hardaway play out his contract, then the Knicks made him that memorably ?holy sheet? offer to bring him back once he hit the open market.
Now, the Hawks are swapping a third-year wing with scoring-burst ability who could become a restricted free agent in a year and a half for a top-18 protected first. The Knicks have time to scout what life with Reddish is like before they commit.

we have already agreed to disagree about RJ so no need to rag on him. Either you will be wrong in which I will enjoy seeing that post or I will be wrong and we will both be miserable.
As a lifelong Knicks Fan I am not looking for anything but a Championship. I was at the game when Charles Smith can not just out the ball in the basket so the misery has been long.

I?ve actually wondered if Dallas regrets that Reggie Bullock signing. He?s been nowhere near as effective with them as he was with us, particularly knocking down 3s.

I would assume Grimes is meant to play the old Bullock role for us eventually, although Reddish could play it too I guess.

Keep in mind, Bullock is getting over 10 million a year from Dallas. Reddish is getting under 6 million this year. Grimes barely makes 2 million this year as a rookie. Knicks had to make decisions on who to keep based on more than just their play. Probably Bullock would still be here if his contract had been cheaper.

Powerful argument I put to you, huh!! The only thing to say is we can agree to disagree. Yes, we can...

You never saw a Championship, huh? Well, I saw both and talk to the Captain on many occasion when he would come back to GSU.

Talk like you looking for a Championship!! Open your eyes if you say that you know BB and talent. I mention things to you that would wake up a person that knows the game. I didn't speak to you about Hype.... I spoke to you about the game and about what a player wants and see. Those things had nothing to do with favoritism it had to do with competition. I said something special to you but you didn't reply to it. That told me a lot Ski.

No PG fit this team!! What you have a Frankenstein team that isn't going anywhere. A PG doesn't solve the problems, Ski!! Wake Up... because you been sleep since Charles Smith. If you were woke then you would know about the low point that Perry and Mills took us too. You would be fighting like hell about what they did to us. Instead you say, Ok we had a #3 pick. Do you actually know what a #3 pick should do for a team? Do you know what is the value of a #3 pick?

Stop and answer some tough questions to yourself.

I asked you was the PG we had but you did not answer.
We picked Hill, Frank. Knox and so on...........bad decisions.
My point is YES I know what a 3 pick should do but you live way too much in the should've could've . We have what we have. So i can debate what we should have done last year or 3 days ago.
To me Reddish is a plus and to me RJ might not be a 3 pick but he is playing good ball right now and we will see where stands at the end of the season.
I have zero issue with any of the Knicks being traded for solid players in the future.

I misunderstood your question. There isn?t a PG on the that fit the current offense(if you want to call it that). You need a playmaker who get everyone involve in the offense? that keeps the ball moving. Again, I said need. The way offense is ran no PG can be good.

All 3 players you mention weren?t bad picks it the organization that was the problem with them. Add Eddy Curry to that list that management failed them.

I live with accountability not should?ve, could?ve. You accept a condition where as I?m going to raise hell until it is corrected? corrected.

?If RJ may not be a #3 pick?, well he isn?t and you should have big issues because unless you know when we will be in a position to get a Transformative player then you should be jumping up and down and raising hell with Perry and Rose. You don?t have to live with incompetent.
Why is it always delayed gratification when it comes to RJ ? will see where he stand at the end of the year?? Can?t make up your mine after almost 3 years of giving him everything to make him successful only to say ?will see at the end of the year?. Real encouraging? hellve argument you put up.

One last question Dark.......if the knicks had won the 1 or 2 pick the year we took RJ who would you have taken.
Good question? guess what it wouldn?t have been Zion. Draft him and then trade him to another team for players and picks. Ja, again draft him and trade for players and picks.
This was the worst draft year to gamble. The Knicks gamble and lost and we suffer for it to this day.
Ok, knowing what you know now who would you have drafted with #1, #2 or that #3? Remember nobody called or want the #3. That is from all the info I could find and it was the same where I looked and people I spoke with.

You were there! 4 attempts! Brutal?

Thibodeau said that newly acquired small forward Cam Reddish will remain out "for a while" with his ankle injury.

No sense wasting breath on a dude who thought Dotson was better than RJ. He has an agenda?

Another wart the kid has, has only been available for 66% of the games in a season. If the Knicks keep this winning streak going I don't see any reason Thibs will play the kid, he'll sit on the bench like Knox and play in garbage time.

Yeah, he?s been injury prone and his defense has been atrocious.

Curry was injury prone first few seasons, so I won?t tag him just yet but?

In no way is this a slam dunk.

Still, he should be motivated to earn a contract and we shall see what coaching and new opportunity will do here for Cam?. And for Knox in ATL.

RJ and Cam a future Tatum and Brown? Or both gone in 18 months? we shall see

Actually all 3 players never materialized so not sue why you feel a single organization can do that to a player.
Eddy curry was his own worst enemy.
Agree on the offense but something tells me and not that I was in favor at the time but if we got Chris paul the offense would be different.
I am already a believer in RJ. Not saying he will be the player that we can build around but be a great addition to a player can build around.
I live in reality and based on the Knicks trades and drafting abilities I would have taken Zion and then Morant.
