No transcendent player in this draft is the message I'm getting. No Lebron, no Durant, not even a Towns. Any year when you workout all the prospects and still say that the best guy you've seen (i.e. Fultz) isn't discernible better than the 3rd or 4th best guy you seen (i.e. Tatum or Jax) means that we might be dealing with an Anthony Bennett draft.
Lonzo Ball was supposed to be the 'special' guy in this draft, but wow did he and his father do some serious work to scare any potential suitors.
The 2017 draft class are full of prospects .. when i moved out of NY i had to watch more college ball than NBA this season .. so no need to watch the work-outs.
In the past two decades the majority of the Top-20 picks in the NBA draft are Freshmen players .. having a half a foot in learning college-ball than jump into the NBA learning half of the basics of pro ball.
Recall when Knicks coach Larry Brown made the same statement several times about the Knicks roster including Iverson/Marbury/and Kobe draft-class.
The NBA may have ruled-out drafting High-school players but drafting the majority of the freshmen-class has turned out to be 10 times worst.
The pro level of athleticism out of High school the Lebron/Kobe/KG/Moses Malone/Daryl Dawkins come one out of every seven to eight years. Drafting over a dozen of freshmen players in the top 20 picks each season does not speed up the process of Mother-Nature.
The NBA has drafted a lot of Anthony Bennett types in the first 10 picks of the draft in the past 20 seasons.
Do Boston need any of the 2017 top-10 picks of the 19 yr old freshmen guards? NO!
Do Boston need 6.8 Josh Jackson? or 6.8 J.Tatum? or 6.11 J. Isaac? or Paul George? Yes!
Boston has a great 2-way PG-Smart who could defend 3 positions, a maturing scoring SG-Bradley, plus a creative first-step PG Isaiah (aka Iverson) .. Boston 3 rotation guards gives Boston the ability to transcend from small-ball to Big-Ball with one substitution to outsmart opponents .. Amir Johnson shoulder injury made Boston uncompetitive in the ECF vs Cavs.
