Official Trade Rumors Thread

I don't think he has huge upside, but glad to see Ron Baker is coming back. He certainly made the most of his playing time last year.

The Post has learned Rajon Rondo, waived by the Bulls on Friday, could have some interest in playing with the Knicks because Oak Hill Academy buddy Carmelo Anthony is on the roster for now

I don't see it happening, but even if it does, man would we be keeping the trend of signing guys 3 years too late alive.

oh yay, my favorite :couto:

The Knicks reached out to Suns restricted FA Alan Williams on Friday, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.
Williams is an undersized center who stands 6'9", and his game doesn't necessarily translate to today's NBA -- he shot 51.7 percent from the field last season, and 62.5 percent from the free throw line, without making a single 3-pointer. He'll be a fantasy pariah no matter where he lands during the 2017-18 season.

The no-trade clause is the key here.

that's bull-doo-doo... if he didn't have the NTC, there still would be only a couple (maybe a few) teams who would want him... and we'd have to take back an equal amount of doo-doo ... as a trade chip he has no value... best thing just cut him and pay him his 50/60m and move on...

Jrue Holiday resigns with the Pelicans to a huge deal. Maybe we are going to roll with Baker and Ntilikina. Very few options left if we can't make a play for George Hill.

Hill ain't coming to NY. Mo Williams is available, if the Knicks want a vet to teach Frank maybe they should pick up someone like him.

Also, can we use the Official Free Agency thread for these posts.

The Rockets have reached an agreement with Nene on a four year, $15 million contract.
Nene is 34 years old and he's already getting plenty of maintenance days right now, so it's hard to imagine what it'll look like in four years. Still, this isn't exactly a back-breaking contract for dollars per year and it'll give the Rockets some wiggle room in their quest to stay under the cap.

we get noah for 4yrs 72, and they get nene 4 for 15- thanks Phil...

Ron Baker tweeted that he has re-signed with the Knicks just after midnight on Saturday morning.
We don't know the details of the deal yet, but he'll be back playing backup point guard for the Knicks this season. He averaged just 4.1 points and 2.1 assists in limited action last year, but also became a bit of a fan favorite. The Knicks are still trying to sign their starting point guard, which could end up being Utah's George Hill.

Shaun Livingston has agreed to re-sign with the Warriors on a 3-year, $24 million deal according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Livingston probably could've fetched a larger deal somewhere else, but it's hard to turn the down the defending champs. With Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant fully expected to re-sign, the Warriors can now turn their attention to retaining Andre Iguodala. Livingston should reprise his role as Curry's backup, but won't be worth drafting in standard fantasy leagues -- he averaged 5.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 17.7 minutes per game last season.

Not Happy bout signing a player (Baker) that we could sign next month in August ..
Our Knicks organization is crazy! Dolan/Board/Mills/Melo/Horn/KP !!!

Our first FA targets should have been a STARTER PG to tutor our 8th pick future star PG the next 2 to 3 seasons. We were supposed to use Dolan's $$$ n NY real estate to entice FA Livingston, or FA Jrue, or FA Hill to a future on the new Knicks .. what happen?
Hopefully, the Knicks make a bright move to sign a walking-FA Rondo for 2 yrs to get Noah on the court in November.

Our Atlantic Division .. Celtricks seems to be the only east team trying to pull one of the western conference top FA Haywood .. If Boston sign Haywood .. well we know who will be the top team in Atlantic Division.
.. The Raptors will talk Kyle Lowry into resigning.
.. The Young 76ers signed Reddick perimeter shooting to win some tight clutch games.
.. The Nets dont have anything to lose or work with any more other than the teams coaches n scouts selecting a roster.

I wanted the GS Warriors 2 star role-players "Livingston and Iggy" to leave the Warriors for the money their talents are worth .. 3 yr $40M contract.
Livingston and Iggy played a great role in the GS Warriors 3 trips to the FINALS .. losing both would have put a handicap sign on the Warriors. Losing Iggy to the Rockets, or Spurs, or OKC will hurt the Warriors in a series.

I dont sees Milsap coming to New York .. Milsap could become the 3rd missing piece on a East team .. Cavs Heats Wizards

Okay...Houston is not near his kid and all of a sudden his estranged wife is now talking about he deserves a shot to win elsewhere

Melo gon Melo...never seen such a selfish athlete in my entire life

Nothing would be stupider than us giving Houston Melo and taking back 3 years of Ryan Anderson's contract. Houston has to do better than that.

They need a third team involved that actually could use Ryno. Going to be tough to find someone, I said it in another post Ryno is not worth 20M a year. FA looks like it's going to be a bust, if the Knicks can trade Melo and actually get some picks or some young players out of the trade I'll have to chalk that up as a successful off-season.

I want no parts of Love or Anderson and because Melo has limited us to his buddy-buddy teams there isn't any value to be had. Like I said just waive him, this is nothing but another heavy distraction that's going nowhere fast.

Mills really doesn't have a clue

Let me guess Derrick Rose to Bucks for Moose and crappy picks?

I'm at least waiting until the 2018 trade deadline before thinking about buying him out. If the team surprises and we manage to fight for the 8th seed we should keep him until his contract expires unless of course an offer the Knicks can't refuse comes the Knicks way. As long as Melo is on the team there is the possibility of trading him, buying him out with a full 2 years left on his contract makes no sense to me.

We also have Noah who we might have to stretch this year, we would have 2 guys taking up nearly 30M salary cap space if the Knicks decide to waive him and Melo. Better the Knicks wait to use that buyout on Melo after the Noah situation becomes clearer.
