Knicks fall short to Wizards in spite of franchise record from Anthony

Carmelo Anthony set a new franchise record, scoring 25 points in one quarter but his effort was not enough for the Knicks to win and they fell short, 113-110 against Washington, at the Garden.

Anthony had 27 at halftime after a sensational second quarter, however, in the second half he scored only 7 to finish with a game high 34 points.

Melo also missed a crucial 17-foot jumper with 18 seconds left to play that would had given the Knicks a one point lead. John Wall collected the rebound and scored 2 points on fast break to close the game.

Kristaps Porzingis returned to the lineup after missing several games and came off the bench. He played 29 minutes and finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Derrick Rose, who dropped 30 against Boston, had 20 last night while Ron Baker and Mindaugas Kuzminskas, who both got to start again, had less than 10 points combined.

The Knicks, now 19-25, miss another chance to win two in a row, something that they haven’t accomplished since December 22. They also lost their first game in which Joakim Noah was out.
