The Knicks kept Golden State to their slowest starts of the season but in spite of Stephen Curry‘s quiet night, New York still couldn’t take advantage and win their first game against the reigning champions since March 30th, 2014. The Warriors are now 10-3 in recent games against the Knicks and 44-4 this season.

Curry managed to score just 13 points at the Garden and shot 5-17 from the field, his lowest performance this season after the one against Denver in early January. Draymond Green, however, who leads the NBA in triple doubles had another one last night (20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) and Klay Thompson torched New York with 34 points to push Golden State on a 116-95 win.

The Knicks had a competitive first half. They allowed the Warriors to go 7-0 in the start of the game, only to respond with a 14-0 run. And so it was that by halftime New York was trailing by just 6 points.

Once the third quarter began, the champs showed a different side. They took a 17 point lead and the Knicks never recovered.

The Warriors made it easy to expose Kristaps Porzingis‘ rookie flaws. 90 seconds had passed into the game and KP committed his 2nd foul forcing Derek Fisher to replace him with Lance Thomas. Porzingis although he finished with 14 points was a non-threat to Green.

“That’s going to be a learning experience for me. To make those two quick fouls and then sit out, then later on try and not foul again and not being able to really play hard defensively because you don’t want to foul out. It’s just things I’ve got to learn and as I get more experience, avoid those kinds of situations.

 – Kristaps Porzingis

Thomas was simply useless on the court, his only couple of points in 18 minutes coming from the free throw line.

Arron Afflalo didn’t had a better night either. He finished with 5 points after going 0-6 in the first half. According to Stefan Bondy, he is now 25-78 in his last 6 games. Replacing Jose Calderon in the lineup for the third consecutive game, Langston Galloway was 3-13 from the field.

With 24 points and 10 rebounds, Carmelo Anthony continues to be one of the only constant on the team. Derrick Williams and Sasha Vujacic contributed each with 11 points off the bench.

Overall, the Knicks were just bad everywhere they shot from. 33-90 from the field versus 42-73 showed just how desperate they were.

The Knicks are now 23-27 and will try to make up on Tuesday night when they host the Celtics.
