Knicks beat Bulls 128-120 in OT on the road, connect five straight wins

The Knicks haven’t connected too many wins this season. Most they succeeded was three in a row early in the season. Last night, however, they finished off the Bulls 128-120 in overtime on the road, to win their fifth straight game, the longest winning streak of the season.

Julius Randle led the Knicks with 31 points and 13 rebounds while also dishing out 7 assists. Jalen Brunson added 30 points, shooting 11-21 from the field and RJ Barrett, on one of his better shooting nights contributed with 22 buckets for New York.

“I don’t want to give anyone the notion that I’m healthy, but I just didn’t want to take today off. Me as a leader, if I’m able to walk and I’m able to play, I’ve got to bring it.”

The Knicks were leading 122-119 in extra time before Quentin Grimes, with 1:04 left on the clock, made a 25-foot three pointer off Randle’s assist. Just about half of minute later, Brunson made himself a three as well to put the Knicks up 128-119 with under 30 seconds left and help secure the win.

Randle had the chance to end the game in regulation but his 13 foot baseline jumpshot missed the rim as time expired.

The Knicks led by as many as 14 points in the second quarter but the Bulls overcame after halftime, nullified the lead and actually got on top 77-76 after Nikola Vucevic’s dunk. They could not build too much on that and the two teams went head-to-head until the end of the fourth quarter.

DeMarr DeRozan scored a game-high 32 points and Zach LaVine added 25 buckets for the home team.

Up-next: The two teams will meet again on Friday night from 8:00 in the same building.
