Knicks fall to Pistons 111-107 in home opener

The home opener showed a different team than the one that lost to Oklahoma City just a couple of days ago, although the starting lineup was the same. But once again, the hype couldn’t be contained and after taking a 21 point lead late in the second quarter, the Knicks blew it and lost to the Pistons 111-107 down the stretch.

After scoring 31 in the season opener, Kristaps Porzingis had another big night, torching the Pistons with 33 points – 23 in the first half. The last Knick to score 30 or more points in the first two games of the season was Patrick Ewing during the 1993-94 season. Porzingis also accused a foul in the final minute that wasn’t called by the referees.

“It’s good that I am able to be aggressive on the floor and score for my team, but a few of those plays at the end I got fouled. Before the block (by Andre Drummond), somebody pulled my arm down. Obviously, it’s hard to see for sure. But I got fouled on that play.

Enes Kanter finished in double double with 17 points (shooting 7-10 from the field) and 10 boards while Tim Hardaway Jr, who played against his father – a Pistons assistant coach, contributed with 14 points.

French rookie Frank Ntilikina was sidelined after spraining his left ankle in Friday’s practice but is expected to return on Tuesday’s game against Boston. The former All-Rookie, Willy Hernangomez has not been given any playtime.

Ramon Sessions however, scored 10 points, collected 7 rebounds and dished 5 assists as the starting PG while off the bench, Kyle O’Quinn, had 15 buckets while shooting 6-7 and 7 boards.

For Detroit, Tobias Harris scored 31 while Andre Drummond had 21 points and 12 rebounds.
