Official Trade Rumors Thread

Looking at the potential packages they believe it would require to get a Cousins, and comparing that TJ what CHI wanted for Butler..... I keep going back to what Melo represents:

Trading for Carmelo Anthony allows BOS to go for it now while also keep chugging forward with this rebuilding effort Ainge has so
ardously employed the last few years.

Do you sacrifice all you've built to attain --- your top picks and 2 top young players?

Or, instead, do you use 2 assets to either grab Melo or 2 role players: a C and a bench spark plug scoring guard?

I'm holding out hope that Ainge sees Melo as a luxury item to cheap to pass on.

It appears that right now Phil wants Crowder and a BKLYN pick. I don't blame Ainge for balking bc Crowder is necessary to help them win now.

But, if this becomes Brown and a pick? Will that be an affordable price?

if I was ainge, I keep the nets pick.... at least to the summer... with or without Me-Lo or butler, boston aint overtaking the cavs...this year... if they luck out in the lottery, no telling what a team will give them in the summer, n you reload for the push next season...

Remember all the hype about Okafor. He was the top choice for #1 for much of the time leading up to the draft. Lot's of trade rumors revolving around him now because of a crowded Sixer front court. The Knicks would have drafted him ahead of KP if he was available and it would have been the right decison without the benefit of hindsight. He turns out to be a one trick pony like DRose so far with the best post game of any of the young bigs but he's not athletic enough to be an A1 defender or rebouner and he's below avg FT shooter. The draft is such a crap shoot, almost makes me want to keep Melo.

Looks like Okafor is headed to the Pels.

Sixers also want to bring Holiday back to PHI. Deal could expand.

Divac says we're keeping Cuz.

In his strongest public statement to date on the subject, Sacramento Kings general manager Vlade Divac told ESPN on Monday that All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins is going nowhere before the Feb. 23 trade deadline.

Amid recent reports that the Kings had engaged the Phoenix Suns in talks involving Cousins, as well as suggestions that some in the organization were advocating a trade, Divac insisted by phone that any such speculation was untrue.

"We're not trading DeMarcus," Divac told ESPN. "We hope he's here for a long time."

Sources told ESPN that Divac recently met face to face with Cousins and his representatives to make it clear that the 26-year-old is not being made available to interested teams and and encouraged them to ignore any media speculation leading up to the trade deadline.

ESPN reported in early January that the Kings already have begun planning to offer Cousins one of the league's new maximum Designated Player contract extensions -- estimated to be in the $219 million range over five seasons -- once the league's new collective bargaining agreement takes effect in July.

Asked by ESPN on Monday about those intentions by ESPN, Divac said: "We are going in that direction
."

how many games did vegas predict the knicks would win this year?
i wonder how much money they're going to make off of the people who - rightfully - saw this roster as a playoff contender and bet higher than the number they gave.
i'm willing to bet they made a lot.
i wonder how much they were panicking back when the knicks were tied for 4th place in the east, looking like they might even make a legitimate run for 3rd place.
funny how things just turned completely upside down seemingly over night, from one game to the next.
wanna know how the knicks are going to do next year? just wait to see the number vegas gives out at the start of the season. there will be your answer. don't even bother debating it, no matter who's on the roster, no matter who the head coach is, no matter who the president and GM is.

'rightfully'??? exactly what does that mean??... a team filled with re-treads... drose, noah, lee,Jennings, guys who never won a thing (hello Me-Lo) ,
going backwards players..(hello KP)... , players who should not even be in the league ...sasha,oquinn, Thomas,baker...so who 'rightfully' saw this team contending ...

i think you kind of missed the point. a lot of those players you mentioned - drose, jennings, o'quinn, KP, and yeah even melo, were playing pretty damn well once they'd developed some chemistry after 10 or so games and were TIED FOR 4TH PLACE in the east, looking like they were in fact going to be solid contenders for at least one of the spots in the playoffs. you can't deny that. i'm assuming you saw that with your own eyes. or maybe those are alternative facts? lmao.
my point was that it all suddenly turned upside down, literally almost overnight. and yeah, it looked really suspicious to me.

and1... I think in all sports, u can't look at early results... its a long season... some of the better teams (wizards/etc) got off to a $hitty start, but the cream started to rise to the top... on the other hand, u have the hawks who were pretenders at the start.... as we were.. my point is (or should have been), this team reminds me of the team 10years ago, where he went out and got lots of re-treads... eddie curry in the middle, we had starbury, lets get stevie francis, we need a backup for curry, lets get Jerome james, jared Jefferies, quentin Richardson, malik rose.... holy $hit... I guess phil was stoned out to see how that turned out

i hear you, and a lot of that stuff makes sense, but i still think this team is closer to the team we saw win 7 out of 10 earlier in the season than the team we've seen recently. i still think it's suspicious and i will continue to do so until i see this team beat the vegas predictions at the start of the season.

Maybe the Knicks can trade DRose or BJ. Blazers trade Plumlee and 2nd to Nugs for Nurkic and 1st. Nurkic must have been really unhappy with Jokic taking his job for the Nuggets to do this, Plum is a FA end of season so Blazers get a 1st rd center on a rookie deal and a 1st this year for a guy that they were probably losing in FA.

WOW! a trade that benefits both teams .. Portland receiving a decent big-man in Nurkic plus 1st rounder .. Nuggets receiving a playoff experience Plumlee to mix well alongside of Jokic & Faried in the frontcourt rotation in the playoff race.
This trade is based on Plumlee's playoff experience to help boost the 24-30 record Nuggets above .500 record after the All-Star break to challenge the 7th and 6th seeded teams for their spot during March n April.
Great move for Denver's management, coach, teammates, and fan-base ..
Portland's move could also be a challenging move toward the 8th seed ......

The Miami Heat are gonna regret letting him go, their biggest blow since losing Lebron and Wade

Miami Big-Man coach/player Haslem .. has enough forwards on the roster n rotation.
D.Will carelessness on the defensive-end need coach/player Lebron to give him clarity on defense.
Lebron is/are the #1 player in the NBA for improving his teammates performance to the next level ..
Players Kyrie, Love, and JR.Smith defensive level moved up 10 notches performing for the Lebron-Cavs

I'm hoping some playoff team thinks they can use DRose or BJ for a playoff push and trade a pick for either just like the Nugs did for Plumlee. The problem with trading DRose is that 20M contract and the contracts you take back for him, BJ is an easier guy to trade and there are teams with trade exceptions where we would not have to back salary but get back a pick.

I could understand trading Rose to a playoff team for a first round pick, butt Jennings is a KEEPER!
Rose has not stepped up his level of performance in the 4th qtr. for the $$$ Rose will be asking for in the offseason.
Jennings bring great energy off the bench plus Jennings get teammates involve on offense.
As a Knick fan Jennings are the only legit transition pass-first PG we had in a long while.
The Knicks number 1 player to trade before the deadline are ISO-Melo star ego!
Whatever whomever the Knicks get back in return for Melo would not be half as bad as Melo.

Cavs sent Birdman to CHA for a protected 2nd rounder to make room on the roster. The Cavs have several trade exceptions from the Varejo and Dunleavy trades of 4-5M dollars which would fit with Jennings salary. The hangup would be the low 55th protected 2nd round pick the Knicks could get for BJ.

Cavs are also hoping this move for this pick and their trade exceptions can make them the 3rd team in a 3 team trade.
