Game thread: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers 2/5/2022 8:30pm [Game #53]

Knicks score 70 in the first half but let the Lakers close on a run. 20 a piece for JR and RJ. Need to keep the foot on the gas here!!!
 
I'm just turning on the game .. Kemba with a 3 to give the Knicks a 21 pt lead ..
The Lakers this season has become a sloppy 3 quarter team. However, all the experience they have on their roster makes them a dangerous 4th qtr. team when their opponents are not holding a double-digit lead.
 
Half Time .. Knicks 71 - Lebron 56

The Knicks first & second option on offense are taking all the shots ..
Randle 20 pts and RJ Barrett 21
 
Coach Thibs wait for a 15 pt lead to turn into a 1 pt lead before he call a time out !!!
Could we trade the head coach before the Feb deadline ???
 
The story of that 3rd quarter was Malik Monk getting hot and scoring 18 points in the quarter.

Both teams showing their inability to do anything when a player on the other team gets hot. Lakers couldn?t slow down RJ in the 1st and Knicks couldn?t slow down Monk in the 3rd.

Time to man up and bring it in the 4th quarter.
 
Monk 18 and Knicks 13 in third Q. Refs did their best to get LaK back from down 21? NYK then forgot to score.
 
Grimes has missed a couple wide open looks from 3 tonight. That last one was a real killer because it would have given us back the lead.
 
RJ is absolutely hammered 3 times, including a blow to the face, right in front of the ref. No call. Lakers are getting away with murder on defense.
 
Then, with 2.8 seconds on the shot clock, 27 feet from the basket, refs bail them
Out and call a touch foul.

Where was the touch foul when RJ?s face was raked?
 
Grimes misses a point blank putback on a Toppin missed 3 that would have given us the lead. Instead it turns into a made layup down the other end.

Burks dribbles the ball off his foot and Lebron ties him up so he can?t re-gather the ball before it goes out.

Need to play better.
 
94-93 LAK and Obi bricks wide open 3 and Grimes bricks gimme putback?.

LeBron layup followed by another non call as James mugs AB?

Since the start of the second Q, refs are basically the 6th man for LaK
