Melo Trade Rumors

If Anthony goes, how will his time be regarded? Will he someday return to standing ovations like Ewing has? Right now, it?s hard to predict with a more complicated tenure at Madison Square Garden.

?I have a really high opinion of him,? said one Eastern Conference scout. ?Because he?s put up with a lot of bull. This guy gets so much unfair criticisms. He?s still one of the most prolific scorers in the game. The triangle [offense] tied him up and tied up [Kristaps] Porzingis.

?He?s not a star star anymore, but he is still an offensive go-to player. If they didn?t mess with him he?d be more valuable.?

?If they have to live with him he won?t tank,? the scout said. ?People talk about him like he?s a dog, from an objective standpoint I think he competed. You surround him with bad players and it looks worse, but when he?s played with good players ? and he hasn?t had many in New York or Denver ? and he always competes hard.?

One executive from another NBA team said, ?His value is with a team that needs one more piece to get over the top. But the Knicks can?t give him away.?

?If he were to open [the no-trade clause] up,? the executive said. ?They would have tons of offers on the table.?

?As it relates to Carmelo we?ve been in contact with Carmelo?s representatives,? Mills said last month.

"We?ve been in contact with other teams. Our view is if there?s an opportunity that works for Carmelo and works for us, then we?ll look at some kind of trade. But we also feel that Carmelo could easily be a part of our team next year. We have to understand how we?re going to play and what the expectations of how we?re going to play. We?re going to move forward so maybe with Carmelo or without Carmelo.?

ESPN predicted the Knicks would win 32 games with Melo. That RPM model of theirs has been pretty accurate, I wonder what the model will predict if they do trade him, got to be worse than 32 no matter who we get you would think.

The Knicks and Rockets have re-engaged on trade talks involving Carmelo Anthony, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Woj adds that the Rockets are still looking for a third team to get a deal done, and that Anthony has been "steadfast" that he only plans to waive his no-trade clause for a deal to Houston. The Rockets are trying to get someone to take Ryan Anderson, but it won't be easy with $60 million left on his deal. Woj also added that the Rockets will remain patient while the Blazers have an interest in acquiring the 10-time All-Star.

"Houston and New York made significant progress on a deal when Phil Jackson was Knicks president, but that changed with the hiring of new general manager Scott Perry, who has been far more particular about the package he'd want in return for Anthony.". (IB - espn)

Oh, and BTw, Knicks on Christmas Day again

If Melo stays maybe he can teach his hook shot to KP. Said he's been working on a floater and now a hook shot, dude is serious about scoring next season.

To me its simple, we arent turning things around until 2021 when porzingas has a chance to resign long term with us.
By then Noah is gone, Ryan anderson would be gone.

we would have picks youth and cap space.

I dont care what contracts we take on until then.

we need to stock pile draft picks, groom porzingas and willy hernangomez and not live in mediocrity.

let the bottom fall out and move up the chain.

the Jazz have been doing this for two decades, the spurs live off the model and the warriors outside of durant coming over have been planning this current dynasty for over a decade.

its the only way to win based off our current situation.

The problem with draft picks is they are more likely to be false
gold than they are to be fruitful.

Look at BOS. They seem to have a lottery pick every year and still.... Ainge has never drafted an all-star yet. How did BOS rebuild?

They made 2 lucky trades taking on 2 younger players a few teams dumped.... IT and Crowder.... combined that with a couple Decent draft picks (more role players than stars).... grabbed a solid HC.... this made them appealing to free agents like AH and GH.

Not saying NYK shouldn't be in the business of acquiring picks... but, they should equally target younger players teams have given up on and hoping to grab lightning in a bottle too.

They hope now is that WHG and KP and Ntikilina blossom, and THJr continues to become a viable starting SG.... if those 4 show enough.... free agents will come.

We'll have a lottery pick next summer.... that pick, and Frenchie, will make our break the KP-WHG run in NY.

Getting more picks helps....
But I think preserving cap space for 2019 is critical....

Boston not only grabbed to decent role players in Crowder n Isaiah but they grabbed a team leadership center in Horford .. the Timberwolves has build a nice young crew on their roster over the past few years now the Wolves added a star leadership player in Butler to take the Wolves team up a level in their performance .. the Knicks management Phil/Mills never had patience to build n establish a young crew of young players to build around on the Knicks roster not keeping n building around two tandem young guards Grant n Galloway (much better than Baker n THJ) who performamce would've improve each season together once adding two veteran starter guards (Jennings n Cee) to push the ball having low percentage of turnovers.
And not keeping n building with bigman Lopez rebounding n defense who performance were a guide for our young bigmen to follow in KP n Quinn n WHG .... the Phil/Mills quick fix moves each of the past 4 off-season adding 8 new players each offseason has showed the Knicks team are not building for a future winning team by replacing 3/4 th of the Knicks roster every other year

LeBron James' passion for hoops knows no limits.

The NBA superstar flew a private jet to New York Tuesday morning to play pick-up basketball with the likes of Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant for a couple hours before jetting back to Ohio, ESPN reported.

The three-time NBA champion had an event for his LeBron James Family Foundation later on in the day on Tuesday, but that didn't stop him from squeezing in a few pick-up games with friends.

The games took place at Life Time Athletic at Sky, a luxury health club in Manhattan.

Anthony, who regularly works out at Sky's gym, and his trainer Chris Brickley first posted videos of the sessions to Instagram Tuesday. Brickley also trains Kevin Durant.

Among the other NBA players at the elite session were the Knicks' Lance Thomas, Thunder forward Enes Kanter, and LeBron's teammates J.R. Smith and Dahntay Jones.

LeBron is also headed to Los Angeles in the near future for some pick-up action on the west coast as well.
