Official 2017 NBA Draft Thread - June 22

I really have no issues with Phil's interview with the exception he could've looked more professional to drive home his message...Enjoy!

Thx for the link Broadway. Looks like Melo stays, not only because he exercises his no trade clause but have you seen some of the deals getting done for Lopez and Howard, the Knicks will not get value back for Melo, PJ will probably have to trade a pick to get someone to take on his contract even if Melo waived his NTC.

Sounds like teams are also not over valuing Porzingis, Ainge is nowhere close to offering 2 number ones and Smart or Olynyk for KP. PJ may still re-sign DRose, the market for him will decide that, if it's reasonable PJ may bring him back. We may be looking at the same team we pretty much had last year with the addition of the guy we get today. Did the Suns really say no to Marques Chris and the #4 for KP?

I also wish PJ didn't say We know what we're doing because he doesn't.

Phil at this point probably knows we're not winning within the next 3-4 years anyway There was a lot of talk about him trying to trade Porzingis to a team willing to take back Joakim Noah's contract but Noah's contract only runs for another 3 years and we're not winning anything in those 3 years anyway so I don't see why he'd bother With Carmelo I'm not sure if he can get anything good back and I doubt it's worthwhile to trade him. Maybe you can get a better deal mid-season if somebody gets injured

Today's the day. I could not be more looking forward to/dreading what's going to happen with our franchise tonight at the draft.

How do people feel about the Phoenix Suns' Marquese Chriss or Dragan Bender? Both are 19-years-olds and came out of last year's draft in the lottery with Bender at #4 and Chriss at #8. Suppose Phoenix was to offer us this year's #4 pick and one of those 2 for Porzingis.

We get Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum at the #4 pick. We take Ntiklina or Monk at #8. We start next year with 3 out of Chriss or Bender, Jackson or Tatum, and Ntilikina or Monk and build from there.

Does anyone like that option better than building around Porzingis and likely either Ntilikina or Monk?

It would have to be 4, both of those guys, plus another first round pick. KP has shown enough promise.... All 4 assets NY would get are all risky unknowns.

I think this is Phil's mindset, he said in that interview this draft is really good and expect some changes from teams on draft night. Listen guys we should've started an organic structured rebuild the yr we drafted #kporzee, could've justified then for trading down and amassing picks(trading with Ainge then). We'd be so much further along it's time start over, completely and do this right. the big question is...Can Phil do it?

I'm not scared for what may go down tonight, I'm more fearful of what might not happen and this dragging on into next season.

I would think if u want value in return, what u give up has to have some... Me-Lo is 33, bad knee/s, lots of mileage, plays little "D".... n he supposedly said he mite just stay put... if he does say to PJax...f...you I ain't waiving the NTC, I'd be the 1st guy to stand up n applaud him... and that's not because I like Me-Lo, but I think he has been treated shabbily by the knicks...

If Melo is refusing to waive his NTC b/c he believes this will force Phil to buy him out.... then screw him.

If he won't waive his NTC then he stays and plays on another 50 loss team, alll season.

I fear we take Frenchie over DSJ.

And I also fear we do nothing much else to help us in the future.

Funny? Ironic? Sad? NYK desperately want to move into top 5..... so much so that NYK is dangling KP.... well, Phil.... Knicks could've easily had the 4th or 5th pick if we tanked the last 20 games!!!!

17/30 first rounders last year spent time in the D-League.

I wouldn't do it, maybe Booker and their 4th but not Chris or Bender and their 4. Ainge has got the assets I want, minimum 2 firsts and one of their young players, Smart or Olynyk, preferably Smart. I don't think teams are anywhere near offering that for KP. Ainge has 7 1st round picks, he can afford them, I'd work the phones with him until the last minute to see if they can get this done

Not a chance. Chriss and Bender have potential but none of them has the potential that Porzingis does.

Let's be honest guys...what happens when we make trades? The trades are terrible and we get owned. If we're smart, we know that whatever trade we get offered, we SHOULD NOT do it.

Word is the deal is Bledsoe, Chris and the 4th. For me, I would only do it if PHO tossed in another 1st and takes Noah.

On ESPN's Outside the Lines, Jay Williams said a top-15 prospect in this draft told him Knicks president Phil Jackson was falling in and out of sleep during a workout.
So he cares more about exit interviews than entrance interviews? Jokes aside, the Knicks couldn't be making a worse case to attract free agents. From throwing their franchise player under the bus to not trying to fix any communication issues with their budding star to arresting a former fan favorite, the past 12 months have been a total disaster. How's it goink?

That's a good deal for KP. I doubt the Suns give up that much but PJ should do it, add a shooter like Monk at 8 and you've got a brand new team before even heading into FA.
