Official 2017 NBA Draft Thread - June 22

On ESPN's Outside the Lines, Jay Williams said a top-15 prospect in this draft told him Knicks president Phil Jackson was falling in and out of sleep during a workout.
So he cares more about exit interviews than entrance interviews? Jokes aside, the Knicks couldn't be making a worse case to attract free agents. From throwing their franchise player under the bus to not trying to fix any communication issues with their budding star to arresting a former fan favorite, the past 12 months have been a total disaster. How's it goink?
Yeah, PJ ain't attracting any FA's to NY outside of maybe Jrue if he signs his bro. He's got to roll the dice with KP by tonight if he wants to have any chance of remaking the roster for next season.

Boston deal shaping up like we thought it might. I also would prefer if he goes to the Suns so KP doesn't have a chance to beat our brains in in the playoffs. :)

Being reported that PJ asked for Crowder, Brown, the 3rd pick and an add'l first rounder. I didn't think they made weed legal in NY yet. Phil is not serious about trading KP with demands like that.

What I've learned from all this? ESPN thinks KP is one of the best players in the NBA. Too bad they're not the GM of an NBA team. They'd probably trade us 10 unprotected lottery picks for him.

Brown is close to our old friend, GM, HC:

The Knicks are ask the Celtics for the No. 3 pick, Brooklyn's pick next year, Jaylen Brown and Jae Crowder for Kristaps Porzingis, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.
This version of the deal wouldn't include Joakim Noah's contract, per the report. This sure is a lot to ask from the Celtics, so it's no surprise they're not willing to meet this asking price. Jaylen Brown also has a close relationship with former Knicks president Isiah Thomas.

Ainge has never drafted an all-star. BOS has 7 first round picks.... they trade for KP and sign GH and BOs is set. It's worth overpaying for KP.

they haven't... but they have in mass.... have to hand to to Phil... he mite suck at being a gm, but he knows where to score.....

The coverage is hysterical.... "How dare Phil consider trading KP", "KP is top player in game, future HOF talent", then "What's Phil thinking asking for so much?" "NY needs to come back down to Earth."

What?

Only motivation to deal KP is to get a WOW deal. Otherwise, no sense trading a budding star for a draft pick or 2, which could be D-Russell and J-Okafor.

Knicks owner, James Dolan, won't be present for the 2017 NBA Draft because his band "JD & The Straight Shot" have a show to perform, per CBS Sports' Jack Maloney.

Dolan will be performing from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at City Winery in New York even though the Knicks have a big night ahead of them.

News has circulated that Knicks president Phil Jackson is willing to deal away F Kristaps Porzingis if the right deal surfaces. The team currently has the No. 8 pick in the draft.

A little over an hour to go and I'm stuck in a car mechanic's waiting room. Going to see if I can tap into ESPN's online coverage. Really looking forward to tonight.

My final predictions? KP stays a Knick. Melo stays a Knick. We package a couple 2nd rounders to move up in the 2nd round and draft a guy I don't know anything about. And...we come away with Malik Monk in the 1st round after Dallas trades up to 7 to snatch Ntilikina from us.

I have to work another 2 hours.... debating if I should follow on my phone or watch dVR when I get home. We shall see how busy we are, I guess.

They worked out a ton of players pre-draft. Wonder what they do in the 2nd rd. I don't think Frank Mason lasts till 40 and I don't think they worked him out but I kind of like him.

Looks like as far as the Celts a deal is not happening. Just said in the broadcast the teams remain far apart, let's see if that Suns deal pans out though if we get Bledsoe it's not just for Porzingis, CLee probably has to go, which changes the whole dynamic of that trade.

My prediction is the same nothing gets done by the Knicks save for a minor move perhaps.
