Official Trade Rumors Thread

Lakers clearly admitting the pre-Magic Johnson front office made 2 big front office mistakes in drafting Russell at #2 and signing Mozgov to a big deal (which was clearly a mistake at the time they did it).

Fair trade or not, you would sure as hell hope that a #2 overall pick after only 2 seasons would net you more than moving a bad contract, Brook Lopez in the final year of his contract, and a late 1st round pick.
I think the Lakers made out like bandits in this trade. Last I heard Marks was looking for an arm and leg for BLo, Russell and Moz hardly qualify as a heist and they had to give up a late first to get them. Nets should have got a draft pick not give up one, I give Marks a D for this trade.

Now I'm reading on Hoopshype that the Knicks were not shopping KP but that teams keep calling about him.

Other GMs: 'What's the price tag on Porzingis?'
PJ: 'All your 1st round picks and all your good young players, plus you have to take Noah's contract'
Other GMs: Click

This sounds like damage control because it could've easily been reported right off the top from us this was the case. There are 3 pieces of evidence today that suggest Phil is game to move him but not without considerable compensation...

The request from Phx
The dinner with Markannen when we already have #kporzee/WHG/O'Quinn/Noah
The Josh Jackson leak

Phil kept his asking price way out of touch and thus now has to face the music of a relationship going south quickly unless he has something up his sleeve. Don't get me wrong Phil probably only called a couple teams to begin but then it snowballed into teams calling him

Brook Lopez only has 1 year left on his deal. A year from now, Lopez will be 30 years-old, have played 11 seasons, and probably be looking for a max deal. He's a big man who scores 20 points a game, which is great, but he somehow only nabs 5 rebounds a game and is not a very good defensive player.

Wow, ESPN found a way to describe KP as if he is an MVP candidate already.

They showed this last season that he scored more PPG than Lamarcus Aldridge, blocked more shots per game than DeAndre Jordan, had a better 3 point percentage than JR Smith, and had more dunks than Blake Griffin.

Damn, this KP guy does sound good. Let's keep him.

Which is why the Knicks shouldn't give the guy away like the Nets did with BLo. I'm not sure what kind of deals PJ is seeing coming across his desk but a deal with the Celts like me and Mafra are talking about is just the kind of move that can ignite this franchise and if KP turns into Timmy in a couple of years Phil won't be here to take the heat anyway.

KP is resisting coaching from Horn and Rambis, he's siding with Melo and defiantly challenging Phil, and he's on record saying he doesn't like the offense.... and, being outspoken in media about Knicks front office must've rankled our paranoid owner... oh, he can't last a full season... he personally helped torpedo last season....

If you are Phil.... now is the time to reboot and rebuild. Start now and prepare for post GSW era.

If you get offered a deal that makes it hard to say NO.... pull the trigger. If not, keep KP.

Steven A. and Max K. lay into PJ on the rumors of trading KP. I'm with them on PJ has been a disaster but this deal is not only about getting Markannen but rebuilding the team with multiple assets.

Dwight Howard traded to Hornets.

The Hawks have traded Dwight Howard to the Hornets according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
You know Howard's career is going downhill fast when the Hawks have to attach the 31st pick to the big man in order to obtain Marco Belinelli, Miles Plumlee and the 41st pick. Howard does have a strong connection with Hornets coach Steve Clifford because of their time together in Orlando, so on paper it's not a bad fit. Howard is entering his age-32 season and is owed $57 million over the next two seasons, but the Hornets will be hoping that he can anchor their defense as they look to get back into the postseason.

The trade doesn't surprise me but damn they got a couple of bench players for him. Dwight never learned how to play basketball, his skills are not much better than they were 10 years ago, a shame for someone they were calling the best center in bball in his Orlando days.

You are very generous to include Melo in that list with the other 4 stars.

It had more to do with Lebron telling Melo one day they may play together but some place warm. It's the Lebron buddy-buddy team up league :teeth::teeth::teeth:

What has Brook Lopez done for the Nets in terms of winning or making Brooklyn an attractive place to play? Sometimes we can't always look at stats. Now I'm not for giving KP away but I'm definitely not for Phil fighting with he and Melo all yr next season either.

Guys and their new teams.

Yikes. As far as I know, only 3 of those 5 were actually traded

Yeah a little artistic license with that pic. Butler looks good in maroon and yellow, way better than Melo. Hate to say it KP looks good in that Celtics uni. A lot of people have spoken out against PJ trading KP but JVG said if they traded Kareem, they can trade anyone but PJ needs to get a Herschel Walker deal to do it. I don't think PJ is seeing those kinds of deals, not even from the Celts who are one of the only teams that could give us multiple firsts and it still wouldn't hurt them. I see it as a win win for both teams if we can deal KP to them.

personally i'm glad for bLo. he needed to get out of there fast. he should've gotten out of there as soon as the KP and pierce experiment turned out to be a huge bust. his years have been absolutely wasted on that team.

Phil should've been in the market to absorb a bad contract if he could've got a young asset like Russell. Not sure why NYK wasn't involved with that.

HOU wants to clear space.... go get Patrick Beverly!

The Lakers reportedly "engaged Sacramento in talks" to send their No. 2 pick to the Kings for the No. 5 and No. 10 picks, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.
Per Aldridge, the Kings did say no to this deal, and the Lakers had the idea they would package one of those picks to get Paul George. If true, there are a couple things to consider here. First, this really shows how much the Lakers want to turn this team around in a hurry. Secondly, the Lakers may not be locked in on drafting Lonzo Ball at two, and again freeing up money for free agents is paramount for them. Expect another Lakers trade in the next 36 hours.

Didn't Phil Jackson get Fined in 2015 for boasting bout how great D'Angelo Russell were in college, having Jean Buss select Russell with the 2nd pick?
Didn't Phil mention he were gonna select Russell with our 4th pick?
Now Phil mumbling bout trading KP .. the Lakers want a big man for Russell .. whatsup?
i guess all the mumbling bout trading KP aint true .. It looks to me like Senile Phil just want to show KP brother how much the next NBA team worth n value on KP un-develop performance.

In two season i dont recall any of the Knicks opponents doubling KP for being a threat on offense or down low.
So aint gonna be many teams interested in trading for a 7.3 player shooting 45% FG and 35% from 3's plus 7 rebounds n 1 block in 33 minute per game.
The Lakers Magic Johnson probably asked Phil for a future first round draft pick along with KP just for Russell .. AGGY!

You didn't hear D'Angelo is a Net. Him and Moz were traded for Lopez.
