McBride sets career-high 29 pts in win against Warriors

In a thrilling showdown against the Warriors, the Knicks won their third fourth game, 119-112 in San Francisco. Jalen Brunson led the charge for the Knicks with an impressive 34-point performance, while Miles McBride contributed significantly with a career-high 29 points of his own.

Right from the opening tip-off, the Knicks asserted their dominance, maintaining the lead throughout the game. They showcased their defensive prowess by limiting the Warriors’ offensive opportunities, particularly in the crucial moments of the fourth quarter.

With the score knotted at 99-95 early in the final period, the Knicks went on a defensive rampage, holding the Warriors scoreless for over four minutes while extending their lead to 106-95. This defensive stand proved decisive as the Warriors struggled to mount a comeback, ultimately falling short.

McBride’s stellar performance was instrumental in the Knicks’ victory. He shot an impressive 9-13 from the field, including 6-9 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he played a crucial role in limiting Steph Curry to just 8-20 shooting for the Warriors. One of his pivotal moments came with 3:29 left in the game when he drained a crucial three-pointer, thwarting the Warriors’ attempt to close the gap on the scoreboard.

“They took it to us, they were physical, they played with great force. I thought Tom (Thibodeau) made a great move starting McBride with OG out, putting McBride out there spaced the floor and obviously he got going. They had us really spread out early. We knew they were going to come in and play hard after we got them a couple of weeks ago. That’s kind of their identity, they’re a hard-playing team. They took it to us tonight.”

Josh Hart delivered another stellar performance, tallying 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, marking his fifth triple-double in the Knicks’ last 21 games. Meanwhile, Isaiah Hartenstein and Donte DiVincenzo provided valuable contributions with double-digit scoring performances.

The Knicks faced adversity with the absence of OG Anunoby due to a worsening elbow condition, but they rallied together to secure the win. Their strong start, highlighted by an 18-4 run in the first quarter, set the tone for the rest of the game.

Despite the effort from the Warriors, led by Steph Curry’s 27 points, Trayce Jackson Davis’ 19 points, and Klay Thompson’s 18 points, the Knicks prevailed, capping off a successful west coast trip with three consecutive victories.

With this win, the Knicks improve to 6-2 in their last eight games, sitting two games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 4th spot in the Eastern standings.

Up-next: The Knicks (41-27) will face the Nuggets (47-21) on Thursday night from 9:00 pm in Denver on their last game of their west coast trip.
