Youngsters set new records as the Knicks fall to Hornets 119-107

The Knicks have lost 119-107 against the Hornets last night at Madison Square Garden, a game that they have never controlled and trailed since the early minutes of the first quarter.

New York trailed by as many as 28 points shortly after halftime and the final score was the closest they ever got.

And now the less horrible facts: Kevin Knox led the Knicks with a career high 26 points and 15 rebounds off the bench as he joined Patrick Ewing to be the second rookie that scored at least 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the last 35 years. He also joined LeBron James to become the second teenager in NBA history to put these numbers.

“I just wanted to make sure I gave everything I had in the tank, leave it all out on the floor”

Frank Ntilikina also had a career night with 18 points, shooting 7-11 from the field, all of them scored after halftime but went into foul trouble and was ejected less then four minutes into the fourth quarter after a foul on Tony Parker. Coach David Fizdale was also ejected for receiving the second technical seconds later.

“It was a little frustrating. He is one of the guards I respect in this league. I’ve been watching him since I was young.”

For the Hornets (13-13), New York native Kemba Walker dropped 25 points, 6 boards and 6 dimes while Jeremy Lamb added 19 points. Former Knick, Willy Hernangomez played just 4 minutes and finished with 3 points.

The Knicks fell 8-20 and will follow a three game road trip, visiting Cleveland, Charlotte and Indiana starting this Wednesday.
