Winning streak cut by Thunder’s 101-89 win

And it’s back to reality in Gotham. Just when you thought the Knicks would get an easy win, the improbable happened. The Thunder struck hard and defeated the Knicks 101-89 at the Garden last night.

So what went wrong? The same thing that went wrong in the previous two losses against the Sixers and the Raptors. Bad shooting. And not only from the field but also from the free throw line. And Oklahoma were not much better, just slightly. But the Knicks shot under 36% from the field and just 60% from the frees.

RJ Barret led the Knicks with 19 points and Julius Randle followed with 18. But Randle was kept scoreless in the first couple of quarters as all his points dropped in the second half. He did connected another double double night with his 12 boards though.

Elfrid Payton had 16 points while the bench was led by Austin Rivers’ 12 buckets.

The Thunder were led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 25 points and Queens’ native Hamidou Diallo added 23 off the bench.

Next up: The Knicks (5-4) will host the Nuggets (3-5) on Sunday.
