A fierce competitor who can knock down the three, the Kuzminkas signing bids adieu to Derrick Williams and leaves Willy Hernangomez to fill out the rest of the team's cap space.

As New York has targeted new faces in the early goings of free agency, Hernangomez was in Phil Jackson's pocket as a promising asset from last summer's draft. Such a stash exercise could really pay off. Signing (another) backup big hasn't yet appeared to be a pressing priority of the Knicks thus far. With that in mind, they must have faith in the young gun's potential translation to the NBA game.
Hernangomez could really thrive in the pick and roll. He moves well, and has decent range and even better hands to help cash in on easy scoring opportunities. He has great length defensively, and is said to be a maturely intelligent player. He should be able to make a relatively quick adjustment.
