Without Rose, Knicks fall to Heat 105-88
Derrick Rose was sit last night due to a minor sore knee. Joakim Noah however became active but his playtime will have to wait until next season when his suspension will be over, after the 10th game.
Without the two, the Knicks fell 105-88 to the Heat at the Garden and are mathematically out of the playoff race.
The Knicks trailed by 12 early in the third quarter, then managed to cut the lead to just four for a short period then fell completely in the fourth quarter.
The Heat outscored the Knicks in all quarters and dominated Jeff Hornacek’s team on both ends of the floor. They rebounded better (52 boards vs just 40) and shot better from the field (47.6% vs 37.1%).
Kristaps Porzingis led New York with 20 points and 8 rebound, Willy Hernangomez had 12 and 9 while Courtney Lee finished with 10 points. The rest of the team finished in single digits.
Carmelo Anthony had a quiet night shooting just 4-12 for a total of 9 points.
Rookie Chasson Randle had 21 minutes on the floor and finished with 9 buckets and 4 boards.
