New York Knicks @ Houston Rockets MSG Broadcast Recap – Toyota Center – 12/16/2021
The Houston Rockets have the City Edition court and they’re wearing the unis to match. I love them, especially the court. There was a lot of empty seats all night, but that dark shade of red that they have made it cozy looking.

Notable Commentary By Wally And Breen
- Breen talked about Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride picking up the tempo when they enter the game then Wally said part of that is because of who their coach was in college.
- Former Rockets head coach and champion Rudy Tomjanovich was shown being honored for Houston’s Throwback Thursday night. Breen talked about their championship win against the Knicks while Starks’ three point shot attempt from Game 6 of the 1994 Finals being blocked by Hakeem was shown. Breen called it a nightmare. I wonder if there’s an alternate universe where things happened differently.
- Wally and Breen were sh0wn up in the stands since that’s where some of the arenas’ broadcast tables are now and Wally was waving and continued to when the camera was zooming out to show the crowd down to courtside.
- This Day In Knicks History: Clips from the Knicks/Nuggets’ brawl from 2006 were shown. Wally said the NBA really cracked down on this stuff since then, especially because they don’t want anything to happen in the crowd.
- This Day In Knicks History 2: In 1993 Patrick Ewing made a jumpshot against the Pacers in Indiana passing Clyde for the all-time Knicks scoring leader. Walt Frazier was shown giving Ewing the game ball. Mike Breen mentioned them being young, then quickly said actually Frazier looks exactly the same.
- Breen said this date was an eventful one in Knicks history. He mentioned Charles Oakley’s fight with Xavier McDaniel.
- Prior to the game Breen said Taj Gibson must have taken 25-30 threes. Shortly before that Gibson made his first three of the season.
MSG 150 – Fast Notes
OKC/NO – The Thunder’s Tre Mann with a big throwdown and Garrett Temple. With 4.5 seconds left Shai-Gilgeous Alexander hits a difficult long three from logo distance. Then with 1.4 seconds left Devonte’ Graham nailed a 61-footer which was the longest shot for a game-winner in NBA history.
Lakers/Mavs – Austin Reaves of Los Angeles had five threes, fifteen points including one three with 0.9 to go to seal the game.
Timberwolves/Nuggets – Karl-Anthony Towns was shown at the line from last night for his 10,000th career point. He’s the second T-Wolf to reach this milestone, the first being Kevin Garnett. Before shooting his free throw he looked up and said something to his mom who passed on last year. Clips from backstage after the game were then shown with his Minnesota teammates celebrating his accomplishment.
