Porzingis scores 24 in World Team’s win over USA Team

The BBVA Rising Stars challenge reached its third year of the current World vs USA game format.

Kristaps Porzingis was a starter and scored 24 points also grabbing 10 rebounds in his team’s 150-141 win.

“I’m glad that we got the win, first of all.  It was a lot of fun.  We had a lot of fun.  I felt like we could’ve done a better job.  We turned the ball over a little too much.  I kind of take the game seriously.  But it was fun.”

The other Knick, Willy Hernangomez came off the bench and in 15 minutes he collected 6 rebounds and made a field goal.

The star of the night however was Nuggets’ Jamal Murray. Murray also came off the bench and scored a game high 36 points while shooting 9-14 from behind the arc and dished 11 assists, a performance that won him the MVP title.

For team USA, the high scorer was another bench player. Frank Kaminsky of the Charlotte Hornets scored 33 points.

Porzingis and his rival from last year’s Rookie of the Year run, Karl-Anthony Towns shared similar statistics. Both finished with 24 but Towns out-rebounded Kristaps by one.

World team not leads team USA by one after the previous two games were split between the two.
